"Part endurance art, part polemic, part experiment, 'License Plate Shed' is a yearlong sojourn in a remote mountain town, during which the artist, Hirsch E.P. Rothko, an anagram of Christopher K. Ho, disengaged from critical discourse, and lived and worked in a 700-square foot shed covered in license plates. The piece is one of three components of the 2010 solo exhibition 'Regional Painting' at Winkleman Gallery. The other two are a set of paintings made during the year and a ghostwritten account of the experience."
Interesting but I am curious to know more. it seems he is more a painter what was the point of the hut? was it isolation?
He talked breifly about living in Colorado in the hut, but it seemed more like it was an opportunity that was too good to pass up. A friend had it available and he decided to go for it.
I wonder about the contact with the outside world? was it limited?
It seemed like their was no limited interaction when he was spending time in the license plate hut. With a little more explanation it seemse like that was just circumstantial and not as much apart of his work
Although he is a painter I am excited for his lectre and think there are things we can take from all artist I am curious particularly about his process with the living away and creating for that is somehting I am interested in exploring.

I stumbled upon this article while looking up meditation, recollection, and things that pertained to things like that
and found this to be interesting and different. I cant figure out if it is really out there or if it is reliable. Either way it is interesting even if it is a glorified opinion.

Floria Sigismondi (born 1965) is a Canadian photographer and director.
Apart from her art exhibitions, she is best known for writing and directing The Runaways, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Sigismondi has also directed music videos for Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Björk, The Cure, Christina Aguilera, The White Stripes, Fiona Apple, Sigur Rós, Muse, Interpol, Leonard Cohen, Incubus, and commercials for Old Navy, MAC, Adidas and Eaton's. Her trademark dilating, jittery camerawork, noticeable as early as her video for Manson's "The Beautiful People", has been replicated by a great number of directors since.
I am interested in Floria Sigismondis photography, her work seems to have a raw aspect that is very interesting. as well as her lighting techniques are something I plan on experimenting with in my own work.

Tenebrism, from the Italian tenebroso ("murky"), (also called dramatic illumination) is a style of painting using very pronounced chiaroscuro, where there are violent contrasts of light and dark, and darkness becomes a dominating feature of the image
Chiaroscuro in art is characterized by strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It is also a technical term used by artists and art historians for using contrasts of light to achieve a sense of volume in modeling three-dimensional objects such as the human body.
Further specialized uses include chiaroscuro woodcut, for coloured woodcuts printed with different blocks, each using a different coloured ink; and chiaroscuro drawing for drawings on coloured paper with drawing in a dark medium and white highlighting. Similar effects in the lighting of cinema and photography are also chiaroscuro.
Jusepe de Ribera, probably an italianization of Josep de Ribera (January 12, 1591 – September 2, 1652) was a Spanish Tenebrist painter and printmaker, also known as José de Ribera in Spanish and as Giuseppe Ribera in Italian. He was also called by his contemporaries and early writers Lo Spagnoletto, or "the Little Spaniard". Ribera was a leading painter of the Spanish school, although his mature work was all done in Italy.
His work is just one of the period painters I find influential in learning where and why direct light was used in previous work, painting and photography.

Personal Bio:
I am a fine art photographer born and raised in Arizona. I received my BA in Women's Studies from the University of Arizona in 1997. In my academic studies I focused on issues of identity and of how we makes sense of ourselves and others in the world. Many of these ideas have carried over into my photographic work exploring the realms of childhood and childhood spaces. I earned an MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2005. Since then, I have been teaching photography at Columbia College Chicago and Evanston Arts Center, creating images for editorial and commercial assignments as well as working on personal photographic projects.
Why I am interested in her work:
I am interested in investigating other artist work, when they work with children or adolescence. learning or seeing their process is usually benificial.
I wonder the relation she had with these kids and parents to achieve such an intimate trusting atmosphere. I do not plan on shooting children but that honest trust between subjects is interesting to investigate.
